Proposal to phase out more plastics

Make your proposal now!

The Munch Cupboard advocacy team have put forward our company proposal under this consultation process. Anna's past legal career means that our company loves to be part of important government changes with due respect to democracy (in fact one of Anna's dreams is to have a full team just working on advocacy projects!). Say no to plastics and let's be innovative kiwis and find other alternatives. Read more below and make your proposal as well.

Plastic has many uses in our lives yet it is polluting our land, lakes, rivers, streams and marine environment. The government wants New Zealand to move away from hard-to-recycle and single-use items. It has two proposals that would help us do that.

The first proposal is to phase out the following types of unrecyclable plastic.

  • Some polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and polystyrene packaging
  • All oxo-degradable plastic products.

The second proposal is to phase-out seven types of single-use plastic items.

We are keen to hear your views on the proposals.

The consultation closes on 4 December 2020 at 5pm.
